Last week was half term here so I didn't think I was going to get much done but I actually managed to make a start on my next project!! I would have almost finished the embroidery part of it wasn't for running out of the black and grey threads, serves me right for trying to use up some of my thread stash!! I'm really happy with the design tho and I'm sure once it is finished and then put with the fabric it's based on it will make more sense! I have to say I love canvas work because it's easy to pick up and put down, which I did a lot, and it's quick!
I'm still waiting for the threads to arrive, hopefully I've ordered the right grey as it wasn't numbered! I'm also waiting on a new toy, an overlocker Eek! I've wanted one for ages and decided that I did need one for my project to make the edges of the fabric neater in the photos, it's quite important they look professional I think. Anyway so I decided to take advantage of the new Hobby Craft that's just opened and their 20% discount voucher! I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the amount of embroidery supplies however they do offer a good range online and I suppose they can't stock everything, as much as I wish they could!! Now if only I could open my own store I'd be set but I've time enough to do at the moment without taking that on as well!
On my work desk this week I've made a start to the next project as I don't have time to just sit and wait for the threads. The next project involves making 15 flower petals, although I have started one it's taking a while to do so I've decided to make it smaller and I might try out using two stands of cotton in the needle to see how much effect it has because I can't take hours on each one when I have 15 to make! Starting to be a bit more realistic about what I can achieve in the time I've got left as it's going to be August and deadline time in no time!!
I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!
Thanks for Visiting!

Morning Emma. Love the shape on that tapestry piece - it's going to be great when finished - hope the threads arrive soon. Hmm - those flower petals do look as if they will take a long time...
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Hi Emma, I love that design, very eyecatching. Fingers crossed on the grey! I must agree about Hobbycraft, as a papercrafter, I find their selection of goods poor, and I get very annoyed that they have so little from British companies, especially rubber stamps. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 XxX
ReplyDeleteLove that Bargello style tapestry, and lovely colours! Hope the grey works out to be the same, don't fancy the tough of you having to unpick! Time is always a thing for you hand made artists, particularly as none of you seem to be able to charge the real number of hours you put into a project.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous embroidery. Hope we get to see this develop. Have a great week and happy woyww, Angela x11x
ReplyDeleteThat looks fab! I cannot wait to see the finished piece. Lovely to meet you.
