What's on your work desk? Wednesday 423!

This is the first woyww post I've written in quite a long time (306 I'm ashamed to say) and my first post for my new blog, Fairy Wrens Embroidery. So I'm afraid it's going to be a bit of a long one to make up for it!

I previously posted as Emma's Sew Happy but since my mum Janet's Fairy Thoughts passed away my heart just wasn't in it.....

Until I decided to stitch a Ribbon work kit, that I had from a tutor on my apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework, for my Brother in laws wedding back in May. It was such a enjoy to stitch and the happy couple loved it.

So I decided I'd better give my embroidery kit and day class business a proper go, mainly because my little man is heading to preschool in September and I'm going to have more time on my hands! Woo! Here he is with my smocked bear from my apprenticeship.

I've chosen the name Fairy Wrens partly because it's a little nod to my mum and also because a fairy wren is a lovely looking bird which has some purple feathers, my favourite colour!

This is my logo which I designed and will become an Advanced Silk shading kit when I have a bit more time to devote to it.

More about my other designs next week I think and more about my work desk this week!

Last week I designed my own ribbon work kit, the ribbons arrived yesterday which was perfect timing to get a couple of sample stitches done and the design transferred while little man was at preschool this afternoon. Hopefully I will be able to find some more time this week/weekend to continue because I love this technique!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and look forward to seeing more of my kits next week! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

Thanks for Visiting!

Why don't you pop over to the lovely Julia's stamping ground http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/ and see more work desks it's great fun and very addictive!

  4. In another life I made ribbon embroidery and alas after carpal tunnel surgery I could not do it any more. So I switched to other things and found art journaling. It is not nearly as satisfying. your work must give great pleasure. purple teddy seems to have a claimant and be in loving hands. Keep it up. The logo is perfect and the name a lovely tribute to your Mum.

  15. AH Emma, how nice to see you. Janet would be delighted that you're exercising your skills again. Totally get the gap, and the need to change your blog/website....nothing feels the same, does it. Great good luck with it.
