What's on your work desk? Wednesday 452!

So I know I've been a bit quiet again lately but I've been super busy working on my current project, and its a big one!

Not sure if I should be announcing this or not but here goes, I'm writing a Book! This is why my projects have been top secret so far but if I don't start marketing it myself then maybe I'll at least sell a couple 😉!

The book I'm Writing/Making is Step by Step guide on how to make handmade boxes with embroidery on. So far I have made Four and a Half boxes and I have four or five more to make before me deadline in August...eek! My publishers are very happy with the progress I've made so far and hopefully they will be happy with the changes I will be making as I've realised how much work I've set myself so I'm changing the structure slightly to save myself work and time

On my work desk this week is my half completed fifth box which is tiny and a little bit fiddly because its for a Tie clip and Cuff links but I'm sure the recipient (my husband) will be very happy with once it is completed! Here's a photo of one of the pieces with my finger for scale so you can see what I working with size wise....

This is where I left it yesterday as I had to go and pick up my son from Preschool, This means I only have 15 hrs a week, plus a couple of hours at the weekends (so we still have family time) to work on the boxes/book. Hoping I will get this box finished this week as he is in preschool all day tomorrow. I'm not sure if I will have much to show you next week as I think I need to start writing the instructions of boxes 2-5 (yes I have only written one so far and general bits and pieces but I've been having too much fun making!)

Sorry about the photo quality but all photos on my blog have to be taken from my phone as for hopefully obvious reasons any photos from the book will be subject to copy write so there will be much better ones in the book, all taken myself  as I go (I think I've taken nearly 1000 so far but they wont all make the cut).

I am also starting a series of Throwback Thursdays over on my Instagram and Facebook (links below) pages showing the embroideries I completed during the three years of my apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework, I may even do a blog post if I can find a bit of time so please pop over to see them if you have time! Last weeks throwback Thursday was a photograph of my Apprenticeship certificate from 2009 which was signed by Her Majesty the Queen herself (not a printed version real ink!). I really do count myself lucky that I was able to be one of the final group of Six Apprentices before they decided to join with University of the Creative Arts to create a degree program. I am also a graduate of UCA's Textile Degree in printed Textiles for Fashion and Interiors, 2012.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

Thanks for Visiting!
