What's on your work desk? Wednesday 444!

Morning all,

Sorry for missing last week, again I have a nasty chest infection, cough cough!

I have been managing to get some work done at least so on my work desk this week is my latest project which involves stump work flowers. The petals to make the flowers I started on a previous post. I wanted to keep them simple so decided to use a coloured fabric rather than doing silk shading in them. They will have a pearl in the center to finish them off.

Keeping this short today so I can get this project finished and have something new to show you next week!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

Thanks for Visiting!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 442!

Apologies for being late this week and missing the last couple. I've been cracking on with my projects and had an awful cough cold last week!

So whats been happening on my work desk this week, mostly unfortunately due to the cough its been computer/paperwork writing instructions. Today though I'm finally starting to feel back to normal so I've been able to continue with my canvas based project. Those of you who have seen my last post will know that I had run of out the grey thread, unfortunately the replacement was a slightly different colour so I had to cut it all out and start the grey again, thankfully it didnt take too long. Sorry, not the best photo!

I've also been having a play with my new toy...an Overlocker which now I know how it works I love!

Today I've set up an improvised cord maker, bulldog clips and pencils! But I'm pretty happy with how the cord had turned out and am looking forward to sewing it on tomorrow! Sorry about all the crap, I need a bigger studio to work in really but needs must!

And here's the final cord with the almost finished project.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 439!

Hi Everyone,

Last week was half term here so I didn't think I was going to get much done but I actually managed to make a start on my next project!! I would have almost finished the embroidery part of it wasn't for running out of the black and grey threads, serves me right for trying to use up some of my thread stash!! I'm really happy with the design tho and I'm sure once it is finished and then put with the fabric it's based on it will make more sense! I have to say I love canvas work because it's easy to pick up and put down, which I did a lot, and it's quick!

I'm still waiting for the threads to arrive, hopefully I've ordered the right grey as it wasn't numbered! I'm also waiting on a new toy, an overlocker Eek! I've wanted one for ages and decided that I did need one for my project to make the edges of the fabric neater in the photos, it's quite important they look professional I think. Anyway so I decided to take advantage of the new Hobby Craft that's just opened and their 20% discount voucher! I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the amount of embroidery supplies however they do offer a good range online and I suppose they can't stock everything, as much as I wish they could!! Now if only I could open my own store I'd be set but I've time enough to do at the moment without taking that on as well!

On my work desk this week I've made a start to the next project as I don't have time to just sit and wait for the threads. The next project involves making 15 flower petals, although I have started one it's taking a while to do so I've decided to make it smaller and I might try out using two stands of cotton in the needle to see how much effect it has because I can't take hours on each one when I have 15 to make! Starting to be a bit more realistic about what I can achieve in the time I've got left as it's going to be August and deadline time in no time!!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 436!

I'm not being very organised with this blogging Malarkey, I must do better! Hopefully photos of this gorgeous boy will make up for it and sort of explain my absence as we've been getting the house ready for his arrival! Meet Sonic our Labradoodle puppy! Hes currently asleep while under the table while I work.

we've also been having our garden landscaped which was arranged before we knew about Sonic so it was all just perfect timing!

Here's what it looked like before, we had tried doing some work before we decided to pay for it to be done professionally.

And this is it almost finished, just a few finishing touches left but its such an amazing improvement!

I've also been working hard on my secret project, the first one is finished now which is a big relief and so I've been able to make a start on the instructions. Only 11 more to do and each one will be harder as I go. Here's a small snapshot of the first one, I cant show you all of it for confidential reasons but I will try and keep posting small sections of each one when I can.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 431!

Hello Everyone!

So today is little mans first afternoon back at preschool....Yay! Love him really! He didn't even wait and say goodbye he was just gone, still at least it means I don't have to feel guilty while I get on with working on my projects.

So its going to be a little while before I can let you all in on the secret as I want to get the first part done and have some feedback before I reveal it, just in case!

So today I'm continuing to work on the designs as I'm waiting for an order of conservation card before I can really get going on it. Also the mini photographic studio I purchased was a bit of a let down so I've gone back to basics and am getting Hubby to put up a curtain track and using a door curtain as a back drop along with some desk lamps. At least I'm pretty good at Photoshop to make any extra tweaks afterwards.

So I'm working on a Silk shading design (on the lightbox), a Blackwork puffin and also an applique design this week. I will hopefully be able to make a start on the first design, once the curtain is up next week, which is just a simple heart because of the size of what it is going onto. Will be using couching stitches and a type of back stitch to create the loops, will possibly bling it up with some beads or maybe some sequins, not sure yet.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something more interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 430!

Hi everyone,

Sorry for missing the last few weeks, it's just been impossible with the little one to get anything done! So not much to show you this week but I do have a photo of my actual desk this week! I've been having a sort out so that the office can actually be used! After a trip to my dad's to sort out Mums craft stuff, not a job I was looking forward to but it had to be done. Still a couple of boxes to unpack but I have saved something for my desk which I just had to have!

On my desk this week is some designs I've been working on for my top secret project! Little man is back at preschool next Wednesday so I will have more to show you in the coming weeks as I will have nearly 3 hours everyday to work on this huge project! I will only be able to show you small bits and pieces for now.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will have something more interesting for you all to see next week, hopefully! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 426!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for being late but I've just had a crazy couple of days with lots of phone calls, enough about that!

So I don't have much on my work desk to show you this week but I've ordered a new light box to start the designs for my top secret project so hopefully next week I'll have some little snapshots of what I'm working on to show you all. Otherwise my blogs going to be pretty boring!

I did however manage to get my ribbon work kit finished, hurrah! Work on this is going to have to take a step back for now but hopefully not too long.

I also made a very small piece for a family friend who I wanted to cheer up as they are going threw a lot so wanted to let hem know I was thinking about them.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I hope I have something for you all to see next week! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 425!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all so much for your comments on my last post! I was a little poorly last week and also working on a last minute top secret project so I apologize for not posting on your pages or doing a work desk post. I will do better this week!

While I won't be able to reveal the top secret project for a while I'm afraid, at least it is moving forward and I'm very very excited about it.

I can show you another of my embroidery kits that I have been slowly working on, still have the instructions to do but they might have to wait a while. I do eventually hope to start selling them on my website and also teach some day classes either from my home or at various locations but unfortunately I don't have anything set in stone.

This is my Introduction to White work Dragonfly.

So this week on my work desk apart from the top secret project is the Ribbon work kit which I've made a good start on but still has a way to go. I will also be using some beads as well to finish it off and will stitch our initials and wedding date in the middle as well!

It's difficult to great photos on a phone sometimes so the top leaves section isn't as yellow as it looks in the photo!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and look forward to seeing more of my Ribbon work kit next week! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!

Thanks for Visiting!

What's on your work desk? Wednesday 423!

This is the first woyww post I've written in quite a long time (306 I'm ashamed to say) and my first post for my new blog, Fairy Wrens Embroidery. So I'm afraid it's going to be a bit of a long one to make up for it!

I previously posted as Emma's Sew Happy but since my mum Janet's Fairy Thoughts passed away my heart just wasn't in it.....

Until I decided to stitch a Ribbon work kit, that I had from a tutor on my apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework, for my Brother in laws wedding back in May. It was such a enjoy to stitch and the happy couple loved it.

So I decided I'd better give my embroidery kit and day class business a proper go, mainly because my little man is heading to preschool in September and I'm going to have more time on my hands! Woo! Here he is with my smocked bear from my apprenticeship.

I've chosen the name Fairy Wrens partly because it's a little nod to my mum and also because a fairy wren is a lovely looking bird which has some purple feathers, my favourite colour!

This is my logo which I designed and will become an Advanced Silk shading kit when I have a bit more time to devote to it.

More about my other designs next week I think and more about my work desk this week!

Last week I designed my own ribbon work kit, the ribbons arrived yesterday which was perfect timing to get a couple of sample stitches done and the design transferred while little man was at preschool this afternoon. Hopefully I will be able to find some more time this week/weekend to continue because I love this technique!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and look forward to seeing more of my kits next week! You can also find me on Facebook and Instagram!
